This Week @ RCB

– Thursday, December 21st, 2023 –

Santa was busy last week when the Westhab Dayspring Playgroup came to town. Over 85 children were treated to a morning of merriment and gifts, hosted by RCB, members of the Bronxville High School Youth Council and congregant Woody Frehse.

This is the fourth week of Advent and the theme is peace.

Preaching: Matt Waterstone

Liturgist: Kibbie Laird

Pastor Matt will be preaching two sermons on Sunday/Christmas Eve.

For the 10am service:

Matt’s sermon is titled “Not a Good Time,” based on the Scripture found in the Book of Luke, Chapter 1, Verses 26-38.

It’s not about Mary’s time or plans but is simply and solely about God’s timing, God’s plans, and God’s work. God is intervening in this world, upsetting schedules and re-aligning lives because that’s what it takes to get God’s premiere work of redemption accomplished.

There is Church School for kids in 3rd grade and younger.

The Livestream link for the service is here.

For the 4pm + 9pm services:

Matt will be preaching his sermon titled “Meekness in a Manger,” based on the Scripture found in the Book of Luke, Chapter 2, Verses 1-20.

Jesus is born and God is incarnate; then he is laid in a food trough for donkeys. Everything has changed, and yet, nothing has changed. Unassuming does not seem like the correct word, nor does covert. Instead, should we think of this as a picture of the power of meekness?

The 4pm Livestream link for the service is here.

The 9pm Livestream link for the service is here.

On Christmas Day:

There will be one 10am service. Matt will be preaching his sermon titled “Sitting in Silent Wonder,” based on the Scripture found in the Book of Luke, Chapter 2, Verses 1-20.

Mary’s response to being caught up in the providence of God is sit in silence, stillness, and solitude.

Communion will be served.

There is no Livestream for this service.
