This concert in the beautiful Sanctuary of The Reformed Church—the only NYC-area performance of an eight-city national tour—reunites Orpheus and Marsalis to explore the intersectionality of jazz and classical music, and also marks the first time Orpheus has toured since the pandemic. Repertoire includes Debussy’s Rhapsody for alto saxophone and chamber orchestra; Ibert’s Conertino da camera; Rossini’s Overture to The Barber of Seville; and Turina’s La oracion del torero. Also featured is a new Orpheus-commissioned work by gifted pianist/composer and New Orleans native Courtney Bryan, Carmen Jazz Suite on Themes by Bizet.
NOTE: All attendees must be vaccinated (proof required) and wear a face covering throughout the performance.
