The last few weeks have been quite hectic here at RCB as the staff have been gearing up for and settling into the new program year. With summers being so quiet around here, September 10th felt like being hit by a truck, going full force with 2 services, a full Chancel Choir, youth bell rehearsals in the afternoon, and a week of built-up anxiety over whether everything had been prepared correctly (not to mention my in-laws were in town)!

But for all the anxiety and stress, it felt worth it as I processed out with the choir on Rally Day, belting “Come Labor On” with the rest of the congregation! This annual call to service reminds us that being the church is not about perfection, or being seen, or feeling important. Our duty is to rally together to SERVE our community and be IN community with each other.

As we all settle into the new program year, remember it’s not about you, or us, but rather God’s work being carried out by our humble bodies. By the Spirit’s tether we have been drawn into this special place, so be the Holy Spirit in and around this community, spreading a fire of love and justice!
