Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir of The Reformed Church of Bronxville is one of the most distinguished ensembles in the Westchester, New York, area.  They provide the highest standard of choral music weekly at the church’s main service of worship and sing numerous concerts and festival worship services throughout the year.  The ensemble has a vast history of excellence, and their conductors have included some of the most well-respected musicians in the New York metropolitan area, including William Davis, Rodney Schuller, Paul Oakley, Richard Westenburg, Daniel Beckwith, and their current Ministerof Music, Matthew Phelps.
The group regularly performs major works in performance.  Recent repertoire has included Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Haydn’s Creation, Beethoven’s Mass in C, Durufle’s Requiem, Schubert’s Mass in G, Faure’s Requiem, Handel Jubilate, David Conte’s Three Sacred Pieces, Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna, Bach’s Actus Tragicus, Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, and Gonoud’s Mass in Honor of St. Cecilia.  Upcoming performances include Parry’s Blest Pair of Sirens and Handel’s Chandos Anthem no. 12:  Let God Arise.  Weekly anthems include six centuries of choral music and include everything from motets to masterworks, to American spirituals.
While a small audition is necessary, the group is very inclusive. If you are interested in singing serious choral music in a warm and caring environment, contact Matthew Phelps at matthew@reformedchurch.org or 914-337-6776 x126.
