In the quiet of January, after all the hoopla of the holidays, refresh your spirit with an afternoon of exquisite music by renowned organist Dr. Gail Archer. A prolific performer, teacher and recording artist, Archer serves as college organist at Vassar College and directs the young artist organ recitals at historic Central Synagogue in New York City. She is also director of the music program at Barnard College, where she conducts the Barnard-Columbia Chorus, and is a faculty member of Columbia University’s Harriman Institute, which focuses on Russian,
Eurasian and East European studies.
Archer’s recordings reflect her passions and expertise. They include A Russian Journey and The Muse’s Voice; Franz Liszt: A Hungarian Rhapsody; Bach: The Transcendent Genius; An American Idyll; A Mystic In the Making and The Orpheus of Amsterdam: Sweelinck and his Pupils. Her fall 2018 performing schedule has taken her from Maine and New Hampshire to the Organ Festival of Ragusa in Sicily and the Orgue en Jeux la Cote Festival in Geneva, Switzerland. Reception follows.
