Messiah Sing
Saturday, December 16, 4:00pm, Sanctuary. Come sing or simply enjoy the annual performance of G.F.Handel’s Messiah, led by professional soloists and accompanied by chamber orchestra. Contact Dr. Sandor Szabó for information, sszabo@reformedchurch.org. Free, reception follows.  

Christmas Handbell Concert
Sunday, December 17, 4:00pm, Sanctuary. Three handbell choirs, made of 34 ringers ranging from 12 years old to adults, perform a shimmering array of traditional and contemporary carols with bells, organ and congregational singing. A tradition since the early 1990s, this concert is not to be missed!

Annual December Luncheon
Tuesday, December 19, 12:30pm, Congregational Hall. All are invited to a delicious lunch sponsored by the Bronxville Seniors and the Congregational Life Council. Enjoy festive music and dabble in the bake sale and Christmas market. The cost is $17; call the Bronxville Seniors’ office at 914-793-2222 for more information.

Blue Christmas/Longest Night Service
Thursday, December 21, 7:00pm, Sanctuary. Cari Pattison leads this simple healing service of music, candle-lighting, poetry, scripture and prayer to honor the reality of loss and grief during this season of expected holiday cheer.

Christmas Eve:
Sun., December 24, Christmas Eve Services (NOTE: No Gathering):

10:30am, Regular Sunday worship, commemorating the fourth Sunday in Advent

4:00pm, Children & Family Service, a casual, 40-minute service expressly designed for families featuring hymn singing, a brief homily for children and adults, and a mini-musical performed by children

5:30pm, Village Christmas Pageant (on front lawn), the 103rd edition of this 30-minute town celebration, featuring Bronxville residents, clergy from every Village church, community carol singing and live animals

7:30pm, Candlelight Worship, an hour-long service featuring carol singing led by a soloist, a Christmas message and candle-lighting at the end with a traditional singing of “Silent Night.”

 11:00pm, Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, a full edition of the traditional King’s College Chapel (Cambridge University) service, featuring nine readings from the Old and New Testaments interspersed with anthems and hymns led by a full chamber orchestra. No homily. This service usually lasts just over an hour.
