May 19: Elder Tony Lemberger - Paul: Apostle to the Gentiles
The Apostle Paul was called by Jesus to preach the gospel to Gentile nations and was instrumental in spreading the word throughout Asia, and to Greece and Rome.  Come discuss Paul’s ministry, his missionary journeys, and some of his timeless teachings as recorded across his numerous letters and in the book of Acts.


NEW SPEAKER SERIES: LAST ACTS OF LOVE
A new three-part adult speaker series entitled, “Last Acts of Love” will be held on Wednesday nights, May 8, 15, and 22, at 6:00 p.m. in the Calvin Room.  This series will focus on end-of-life issues.

  • May 8: Tim McGrath and Suzanne Bloomer will address legal issues and funeral preparations/arrangements.
  • May 15: Rev. Julie Emery (from Larchmont Avenue Presbyterian Church) will speak about growing through grief. 
  • May 22: Rev. Dr. Ken Ruge will finish up with a discussion on heaven and the afterlife.

TRIPS TO KENYA
On Sunday, May 19, stop by the Copenhaver Room after Coffee Hour for an Informational Session on Cross Cultural Thresholds’ Trips to Kenya!  Representatives from Cross Cultural Thresholds (CCT) will be stopping by the Copenhaver Room at 12:30 p.m. to discuss the life-changing trips to Kenya that are taking place this summer.  If you would like to learn more, please come by!

4th GRADE BAKE SALE
On Sunday, May 19, the Church School 4th grade class will hold its annual bake sale after the 10:30 a.m. service when the baked goods are artfully displayed and the selling begins.  The proceeds of the event are used to offset some of the cost of the Youth Mission trip.  The bake sale is one of the highlights of the year for the students!

 
FORMAL WEAR WANTED
Next month, 14 teenagers from Westhab will be attending a Debutante Ball and are in need of a loan of seven white gowns and seven tuxedos.  If anyone knows of or has access to a formal wear outlet that would consider donating or lending formal wear, please contact Francesca at francesca@reformedchurch.org or 914-337-6776, Ext. 112.  Thank you!

Important Notice
At its February 12th meeting, the Consistory adopted the recommendations of the Strategic Planning Committee and will begin  implementing the recommendations in the coming year. These recommendations, which were made after extensive surveys,   interviews and consultation with our members, focus on deeper congregational engagement, loving care for our members and insuring our long term sustainability as a church. In the coming months, the  Consistory will give you updates on our  progress as we work together to build an even more dynamic and welcoming church community.
